Today marks the end of this year’s National Apprenticeship Week 2016
(NAW2016), and what better way to celebrate than to introduce you to some of our budding engineers! GOV UK’s #NAW2016 promotes the positive impact of apprenticeships on individuals, business and the economy whilst emphasising its importance for young people in the pursuit of their goals.
King Communications & Security provide candidates with a diverse apprenticeship experience due to its vast project and product offering. Each engineer has the opportunity to learn across the organisation’s 4 key disciplines; IP Networked Security, Building Infrastructure, Fire and Life Safety and Healthcare systems, whilst specialising in a field of their choice towards the end of their time served. Our engineers embark on a jam packed training programme including accreditations/certifications from;
FIA,
Cisco,
IPAF,
Notifier,
Milestone Systems,
Axis Communications,
ECS and more, fully equipping them for the demands of a forward thinking and innovative business environment where client solutions vary from project to project, and where the demand for bespoke systems is on the rise.
With the opportunity to work at popular project sites such as Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall, Heriot-Watt University’s Lyell Centre and the New Royal Edinburgh Hospital. Our apprentices thrive in our fast-paced work environment, providing vital support to the growth of the organisation in the process. Meet some of our fantastic candidates below!

Q: What drew you to the apprenticeship route?
A: My brother is a heating engineer so I knew I would have job security if I completed an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships also open a lot of doors as you can build on your qualifications to progress on the employment ladder.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working with King Communications & Security and as an engineer?
A: I enjoy working on all of the different systems we use as I’m learning how to complete installations on a vast range of products which are usually all integrated with each other, whereas some companies only train apprentices on one discipline. I also enjoy working on larger sites as I spend a lot of time wiring and then a lot of time fitting out which helps as you learn how to complete each stage of the install thoroughly.
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
A: I enjoy combat sports, I love watching the UFC and have recently begun training at a local MMA gym.
